

Thelma Scardina Braud died Sunday, July 10, 2011, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She was 81, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge and retired East Baton Rouge Parish school bus driver. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Tuesday, July 12, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visiting resumes at St. George Catholic Church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Brent Maher. Burial service will follow at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery. Thelma is survived by her children, Kathryn Morrell, Glynn Braud and wife Cathy, and Cheryl Kennedy and husband Carl; grandchildren, Michael Lockwood and wife Courtney, Dwayne Lockwood, Troy Morrell, Kyle Braud, Jennifer Engel and husband Mark, and Julie Vidal; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Logan, Andi, Hunter and Aeden. She is also survived by her sisters, Josie Goad, and Bonnie Wade and husband David; brothers, Raymond Scardina and wife Becky, John Scardina and wife Beth, and Donald Scardina; sisters-in-law, Sherry Scardina, Gloria Scardina, Mavis Braud, Lorena Braud and Mae Braud; and numerous nieces and nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Louis D. Braud; parents, Joseph and Conja Scardina; and brothers, Lawrence Scardina and Kenneth Scardina.
