

He was a retired operator with Exxon/Mobil, with 35 years of service. Cole was a native and resident of Baton Rouge. He died at 6:00pm on Thursday, March 05, 2015, at The Jackson War Veterans Home. Cole was 88. Cole was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, serving in the Pacific Theater in Okinawa and the Occupation of Japan. He held the rank of First Sergeant in Company C 32nd Infantry. Cole was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife: L. JoAnn McAndrew; daughter: Nicole Lynette Thompson&husband Bret; two sons: Michael Bryant McAndrew&wife Madeline, Greer McAndrew; two step-sons: Paul Evans&wife Rebecca, Micheal Evans&wife Pamela; grandchildren: Tracy McAndrew, Hannah Voyles, Michael Thomas McAndrew, Taylor McAndrew, Taylor Richard, Haley Evans, Morgan Evans, Timothy Evans, Matthew Evans, Brandon Evans, Alexandra Thompson; step-grandchildren, David, Jessica and Rebecca Turnbow; great-grandchildren: Peyton Istre and Bryson Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Faye A. Kannon; parents: Willard G. Sr.&Viola Bergeron McAndrew; son: Thomas Cole "Scout" McAndrew, Jr.; twin sister: Theresa Coleen McAndrew; two brothers: Willard G. McAndrew Jr., and John Gayle McAndrew, Sr., and grandchild: Makayla Thompson. Cole proudly graduated from Catholic High School, after which he left to serve his country during World War II. After returning from World War II, he attended LSU. A longstanding member and former Commander and Senior Vice with the VFW Zachary Taylor Post #3784. After retiring from Exxon, he pursued his passion of golf and chasing the elusive hole-in-one. A celebration of his life will be held at the VFW Zachary Taylor Post #3784, 13214 South Choctaw Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Research Center.
