Thomas Herschel "Tommy" Fontenot

"Tommy passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Jan) Bourgeois Fontenot, 3 sons and daughters in law, Robert and Jennifer, Randy and Erynn, Ryan and Kellie, and 6 grandchildren, Brennan, Tyler, Jacob, Zachary, Lucas and Morgan, all of which he was very proud of. He was also survived by sisters and brothers in law, Linda and Freddie Housewright, Phyllis and Tony Huval and many nieces and nephews. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Claudia and an infant son, Richard. Tommy retired from AT&T after 42 years of service. He served in the Marine Corp and was a Vietnam Veteran. Tommy enjoyed every minute of his retirement and would often say that every day was a Saturday to him except for Sunday which was for the Lord! He always had a beautiful garden and loved working in his yard. Having coffee with his AT&T retired buddies and lunches with his RHS "65 graduate men's group were the 2 things Tommy valued in retirement. He was an avid LSU football and baseball fan. Funeral services for Tommy will be on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church at 1pm, with visitation beginning at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary. Special thanks to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital for the compassionate care especially to Dr. John Pierre Amadon.
