Robert “Thomas” Kennon, 41, peacefully passed away Sept. 15 after an 11-month battle with cancer in Hospice of Baton Rouge’s Butterfly Wing at Baton Rouge General Mid-City. A native of Baton Rouge, he never met a stranger and managed to know everyone’s life story if he talked to them more than once or twice.
Thomas was an avid history buff, not by reading books but via TV, in particular the History and Discovery channels. He was also enamored of watching TV cooking shows and those detailing the restoration of vintage cars and trucks. His happy place was a kitchen, having worked in many local restaurants.
Thomas is survived by his main loves, son Robert Jr. and daughter Sofia Agnes; mom and stepdad, Pam and Jim Bordelon; dad and stepmother, Bob and Sandra Kennon; brothers Michael (Alena Gomes) and David Kennon; nephew Alex Kennon; stepchildren Brianna, Braylee and Brady Watson; grandmother Sarah Richardson of Union Springs, AL; aunts Amy Singleton (Roy) of Mt. Dora, FL., and Sally Parker (David) of Montgomery, AL; uncles Philip Richardson Jr. of Birmingham, AL; and cousins Rebekah S. Meyer of Orlando, Sarah Marie S. Burke of Nashville, Campbell Parker of Birmingham and Lillian Parker of Charlotte, NC
He is predeceased by grandfather Philip M. Richardson, grandmother Lydia Godwin, grandfather M.C. “Bill” Godwin and great-grandmother Allie Mizell Morgan.

A Celebration of Life is Saturday, Sept. 19, beginning with visitation 10 a.m., followed by a moment of reflection officiated by the Rev. Chris Andrews. Honorary pallbearers are his son, stepfather, brothers, stepson and Gary Evans. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Hospice of Baton Rouge or Baton Rouge General Foundation.
