
A retired dairy farmer, and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, died at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his home. He was 88 and served as an aviation cadet in the Army Air Corps. Visiting is at St. George Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 2, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Mike Schatzle. Interment will be following Mass in the church cemetery. Survived by his daughters, Kathleen Kleinpeter Humphries and spouse Timothy Lee Humphries, of Jasper, Ga., Judith Kleinpeter Caponegro and spouse Francis Hamilton Caponegro, of Mandeville, and Deborah Kleinpeter Gelpi and spouse Gregory John Gelpi, M.D., of Baton Rouge; sons, Thomas Gibbens Kleinpeter Jr. and spouse Eileen Breton Kleinpeter, Harry William Kleinpeter and spouse Renee Fredricks Kleinpeter, and Gregory Wayne Kleinpeter and spouse Laura Crain Kleinpeter, all of Baton Rouge; Tom is also survived by his sisters, Betty Kleinpeter Kershaw and spouse Donald P. Kershaw of Baton Rouge, and Connie Kleinpeter Leglue and spouse Gerald J. Leglue of Alexandria; brothers, Ben Kleinpeter and Larry Kleinpeter, M.D. and spouse Eleanor D. Kleinpeter and sister-in-law Marion L. Kleinpeter all of Baton Rouge; 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Lenora Mae Sell Kleinpeter; parents, Leon R. Kleinpeter Sr. and Mary Lillian Gibbens Kleinpeter; sisters Frances K. Wray and spouse Daniel A. Wray, M.D., Mary Carrie K. Brousssard, and spouse Vernis J. Broussard, Eleanor K. Lawrence and spouse George E. Lawrence; brothers Leon R. Kleinpeter, Jr. and spouse Nettie Z. Kleinpeter, Vincent A. Kleinpeter and spouse Patsy T. Kleinpeter, F. Michael Kleinpeter and sister-in-law Jay M. Kleinpeter. Tom left behind a legacy of love for God, his beloved wife, Lee, family, and his country through his service in the Army of the United States. His love and devotion of all these things evolved through his formative years spent with the Brothers of the Sacred Heart at St. Stanislaus College, Bay St. Louis, Miss. Pallbearers will be Shawn C. Kleinpeter, M.D., David T. Kleinpeter, Bradley K. Zito, Jeffrey S. Humphries, Todd M. Humphries, Benjamin G. Kleinpeter, M. Adam Kleinpeter, and Mark H. Caponegro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stanislaus College, Bay St. Louis, Miss., and St. George Catholic Church, Catholic High School, or St. Joseph's Academy, all of Baton Rouge.
