
A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away Thursday Sept. 6, 2007, at 8:45 p.m. in Baton Rouge. He was 50 and a songwriter and musician. A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 10, at the Aldrich Chapel at First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Heron Sherwood Collins and Sarah Harkey Collins; a sister, Jill Collins Meredith and her husband, Locke Meredith; two brothers, Rip Collins and his wife, Melinda Collins, and William Sherwood Collins and his wife, Hiromi Collins; and nieces and nephews, Collins, Mitchell, Madisonne and Mason Meredith, Sarah, Katie, Troy and Taylor Collins and Hannah Collins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Troy Welton Harkey, Martha Dochterman Harkey, Thomas Gordon Collins and Freda Huskey Collins. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Tommy Collins Ocean Hospital Memorial Fund, 1300 Millerville Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. The purpose of this fund is to support the treatment of mental illnesses at Ocean Hospital, under the administration of Dr. Robert Blanche. Donations may also be made to First United Methodist Church.
