

A retired powerhouse operator with Copolymer Corp. with 27 years of service, he passed away at 7:55 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2007, at Baton Rouge Hospice. He was 85, born in Alexandria, reared in New Orleans, and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Mr. Ball was a decorated war veteran, having served two tours of duty with Squadron G of the 138th Army Air Forces unit, flying 62 missions and having his plane shot down by enemy fire six times during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marion Sword Ball of Baton Rouge; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Steve G. and Linda Ball, Baton Rouge, Glynn F. and Patsy Ball, Denham Springs, Perry L. and Beth Ball, Dallas, and Keith W. Ball, Baton Rouge; brother, Sidney Ball of New Orleans; niece, Shelia LaBorde; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Lucille Ball; sister, Shirley Ainsworth; and two nieces, Sharon Sylvest and Cheryl Bordelon. Visiting at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, on Thursday, June 7, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Pete Profit, Chris Ball, Mitch Cedotal, Glynn Ball, Steve Ball and Perry Ball. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Lane, Baton Rouge, 70810.
