Troy K. Simoneaux, affectionately known to many as "Tree-House Troy", "Troy Boy", or "Tarzan" passed away on May 27, 2026, due to natural causes, at the age of 61. Born on June 29, 1964, Troy lived life on his own terms, embracing adventure, independence, and a deep connection to nature. A hardworking and dependable man, he spent much of his career in construction, including HVAC and insulation. Whether helping build bulkheads in Bayou Sorrell or working on houses all the way in Egan, Troy always showed up ready to work. He took pride in a job well done and was known for his willingness to lend a hand whenever someone needed help. Troy was happiest outdoors. He loved living off the grid and spent as much time in the woods as possible, finding peace, purpose, and freedom among the trees. Nature was his sanctuary, and his adventurous spirit led him down countless trails and into countless stories. To his nieces and nephews, Troy wasn’t just an uncle, he was a “FUNcle”— the kind of uncle that brings you on thrill- seeking adventures. The uncle with unbelievable stories. The uncle who was never too old to sit at the kids table. These traditions continued with his great nieces and nephews as well, with the addition of “treasures” which ranged from leather jackets, to sling shots, to survival gear. Above all, Troy had a big heart. He cared deeply for his family, friends, and anyone fortunate enough to cross his path. His generosity, loyalty, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Troy is survived by his siblings, Shivonne Wren (Tommy), Donnie Simoneaux, Jeannine Cockerham (Tony), Marc Simoneaux (Marianne), Kyle Simoneaux (Becky); his "ride or dies," Rusty Devall and Kendra Grant. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Anna, John, Mallory, Jennifer, Angelle, Lyle, Madeleine, Brennan, Alyssa, his godchild, Rachel, and Missy; as well as 18 great-nieces and great-nephews who loved him dearly and looked forward to every story, adventure, and treasure he shared with them. Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Donald L Simoneaux, Sr. and Barbara Berthelot Simoneaux; as well as his dear friend Cassie Brashier. Though he will be deeply missed, Troy's legacy will live on in the stories told, the adventures he inspired, and the love he gave. He will be remembered for his independent spirit, generous heart, and unwavering willingness to help others. May he rest peacefully beneath the open skies and among the woods he cherished so dearly. Funeral services for Troy will be celebrated by Fr. Jason Palermo Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 14040 Greenwell Springs Road. Visitation will be from 9:30 until the mass begins at 11:00 am. A private burial will be held at a later time.
