A resident of Baton Rouge and former resident of Meraux, Virgie W. Phillips Lawrence died on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at La Maison in Denham Springs. She was 85 and a native of Mangham. As per her wishes, burial services will be private. Virgie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Francis H. Lawrence, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Johnette Lawrence; two grandchildren, Matthew Lawrence and Wendi L. Wilkinson and husband Kyle; and five great-grandchildren, Angel and Christal Lawrence, and Adyn, Harper and Scout Wilkinson. She was a member of Maranatha Church of God. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Maranatha Church of God, 1433 Sharp Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
