Vernell Fleming, who was born in Mansura, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at her daughter's home in Murietta, Calif. She was 83. She is survived by her loving family, including a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Christopher Sutton, of Murietta; son, Robert Fleming, of Arlington, Va.; four grandchildren, Katherine Kopp, of Temecula, Calif., Robert Kopp, of Oceanside, Calif., Mary Fleming, of Richmond, Va., and Emmett Fleming, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two great-granddaughters, Jordan Rose Kopp and Sydney Mae Kopp, both of Oceanside; and Paige Fleming, of Virginia Beach. Her husband, Robert E. Fleming, and parents, Joseph Scallan and Myrtle Roy Scallan, who were all of Mansura, preceded her in death. Public viewing at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, March 1, from 10 a.m. until funeral service at noon. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway.
