Veronica Nettles died Friday, March 21, 2008, at Ochsner Medical Center. She was 31 years young, born on Dec. 9, 1976. She leaves behind her two precious children: son, Joshua Horacek, and daughter, Sarah Halker. Also survived by her mother, Debby Estilette; twin sister, Christina Nettles; sister, Dominque Shelmire; sister-in-law, Nija Walker; brother, Chad Monk; her other sister and brothers, Cynthia Joyce and Jay, Brian, and Travis Handleson; and also her estranged husband, Brant Halker. Preceded in death by her daughter, Gabrielle Nettles; brother, Cortlane Booker Franklin; father, Peter Handleson; grandmother, Anna Hutchinson Pittman; and uncle and aunt, Kennon and Georgia McDaniel. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, March 26, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Bluff Creek Church Cemetery, Clinton.
