Victor Robert Cashio, affectionately known to so many as Vic and lovingly called Papa by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, entered the presence of his Savior on June 25, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on March 7, 1948, in New Roads, Louisiana, Vic lived a life marked by unwavering faith, devoted service, deep love for his family, and unswerving integrity.
A proud graduate of Louisiana State University, Vic answered the call to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. He honorably served as a Captain and helicopter pilot, carrying with him the courage, discipline, and humility that would define his life. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and successful career with ExxonMobil Chemical, where he eventually retired.
While his accomplishments were many, those who knew Vic understood that his greatest priorities were never found in titles or achievements. He was first and foremost a follower of Jesus Christ. His faith guided every aspect of his life and was evident in the love, wisdom, and steadfast example he gave to his family and church. As an active member of Maranatha Fellowship, he faithfully served the Lord and encouraged others to walk closely with Him.
Vic found great joy in the outdoors. Whether hunting in the woods, fishing on the water, or cheering on his beloved LSU Tigers and Dodgers baseball, he embraced life’s simple pleasures with gratitude and enthusiasm. Yet nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, treasured Papa, and faithful friend who left an enduring mark on everyone blessed to know him. He showed his love to others by teasing them and remembering stories, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 57 years, Carol B. Cashio; his children, Casey and Christy Cashio, Branton and Toni Cashio, and Megan Mayers; nine cherished grandchildren, Chase Cashio, Collin Cashio, Caroline Cashio, Cydney Hooper, Victoria Mayers, Cayten Cashio, Carmen Knaust, Faith Mayers, and Hunter Cashio; eight precious great-grandchildren; his brother, David Cashio; his sister, Francis LeBlanc; sisters-in-law, Joyce Nelson and Ann Bordelon; and many beloved nieces and nephews who will forever treasure his love and example.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Cashio of Livonia, Louisiana; his brother, “Baby” Joe Cashio; brothers-in-law, George Nelson, Philip Bordelon, Percy LaCour, and Randy LeBlanc, Ray Gaspard; and sisters-in-law, Maurine LaCour and Jeannie Gaspard.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Hospice of Baton Rouge, especially Christina Mizell, whose exceptional compassion, kindness, and dedicated care brought great comfort to Vic and his family during his final days. Your love and support will never be forgotten.
Services will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home and Crematory at 11000 Florida Blvd. Visitation from 4-6:30pm with funeral at 6:30pm on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Though our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice in knowing that Vic’s greatest hope has become his eternal reality. He finished his race faithfully, and we find comfort in the promise that he is now in the presence of the Lord he loved so deeply. His legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion will continue through the generations of family and friends whose lives he touched.
