

Victor (Vic) Brock Ginn, Jr. died peacefully on February 20, 2014 at his home at Southside Assisted Living, surrounded by his family. He was a resident of Southside Gardens. He was born on May 16, 1935 in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from Hammond High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. Victor is a veteran of the Korean War, having been stationed in Seoul Korea. In recent years he had returned to the Baton Rouge area, after previously retiring to his home on the Tickfaw River in Springfield, LA. Victor was a local businessman and the former owner of a candy distribution center, insurance agencies, as well as a restaurant and convenience stores. He was an avid LSU fan and enjoyed traveling with his friends to away games. He loved to hunt in St. Francisville and fish at his camp on Belle River. He was a former member of the PIA and the Lions Club. He greatly enjoyed his Friday night poker games with his friends at Southside. He is survived by his daughters, Pamela G. Forestier and husband Craig of Baton Rouge; Wendy G. Nelson and husband Debbs of The Woodlands, Texas; April G. Wagner and husband Rodney of Mandeville, LA. Six grandchildren Christopher, Sean and Alexandra Forestier; Sydney and Andee Nelson; and Hannah Wagner. His brother and sister-in-law, Robert (Robb) and Nancy Ginn of Baton Rouge. Two nieces, Stephanie Ginn of Atlanta, GA; Michelle G. Smith and husband Barrett of Atlanta, GA. Two great-nephews, Brock and Sawyer Smith of Atlanta, GA; and close family friend Bruce Herring. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Brock (Frankie) Ginn, his wife Sidney Marquart Ginn and his son David Victor Ginn. Special thanks to Dr. Carl Luikart and Dr. Kelly Boudreaux and their wonderful nurses; Southside Gardens and Southside Assisted Living for all their wonderful care, especially Mark, Robin, Becky, Steven and their loving staff; and Hospice of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA from 12pm until religious service at 2pm Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, conducted by the Reverend Brady Whitton of First United Methodist Church. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Pallbearers will be Craig Forestier, Debbs Nelson, Rodney Wagner, Christopher and Sean Forestier, and Jerry Pigott. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Herring and Gene Guffey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association..
