
A retired 39-year Exxon employee, he died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at St. James Place. He was 98 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at St. James Episcopal Church on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Charles Wood. Interment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Peg and Tom Austin and Kitty and Bodo Claus; son and daughter-in-law, Vic Roy III and Elaine Roy; grandchildren, Jack Austin, Margaret Lisi, Heidi Fisher, Laura Franks, Michael Claus, Brent Roy and Jennifer Oliver, and their spouses; and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Ewing Roy; second wife, Edrel Landry Roy; parents, V.L. Roy and Josephine S. Roy; sister, Lucile Roy Caffery; two brothers, Dr. Sanford Roy and J. Overton Roy; and a grandson, Tom Austin Jr. He was a graduate of Tulane University. The family thanks his devoted caregivers and the staff of St. James Place.
