
A native of Slidell and resident of Baton Rouge, he died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor. He was just shy of his 93rd birthday. He was a carpenter, lifetime member of Local 1098 and retired from Kaiser with 33 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mother of Perpetual Help Council 4085, Baker, and the Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Tuesday, June 29, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting will resume at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Road, Wednesday, June 30, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Fred Youngs. Interment in Prairieville Cemetery. Mr. Cambre was a longtime and faithful parishioner at St. Isidore Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary "Polly" B. Cambre; daughters, Juanita McDonald and husband Leland, and Margaret Ann Cambre; and sons and their wives, Vincent T. Jr. and Jeni-Su Cambre, James G. and Sandy Cambre, Paul and Mary Cambre, and Eddie and Judy Cambre. Also survived by his brother, Joseph Cambre; two sisters, Ethel Trocher and Dot Smith; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Cambre; four brothers, two sisters, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Buddy Cline, Ricky Cline, Jay Cambre, Joey Cambre, Jude Cambre and Damian Cambre.
