On Thursday, April 4, 2024, our beloved Virginia “Ann” Materiste Buriege passed peacefully into her eternal home at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old and a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a 1959 graduate of Baton Rouge High School and of Spencer Business College.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years Louis Buriege; daughters, Laurie Snaith (Don), Gina Powell (Blake); grandchildren, Sydney Sinon (Evan) and Marli Ann Snaith (fiancée Dylan Ramsey); great-grandson, Stetson Sinon; step grandchildren Shannon Snaith and Simone Snaith-Blackburn. Other family members left to treasure her memory are sisters-in-law Genevieve Cavalier and Edna Prochaska; brother-in-law, Bob Soileau; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Katherine Ippolito Materiste. Ann was a founding member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and former member of the LSU Faculty & Staff Retirees Club. She also served as vice-president of Buriege Family Properties. Visitation at St. Aloysius Church from 9:30 until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 celebrated by Rev. Trey Nelson. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
