
Virginia Cotton passed away on Thursday evening, February 6, 2014, one day after she celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at The Haven At Windemere, where she resided. She moved with her family to Baton Rouge in her teens. After her husband died in 1960, she and her sister opened and operated t'nincy Children's Shop, where they lovingly dressed children for 28 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall Robert Cotton; parents, Charles and Anna Ellis; brothers, Jack Ellis and Carlos Ellis; sister, Sarita Woodward; daughter, Robin Cotton Jacobs; and great grandchild, Ryan Melton. She is survived by twin daughters, Bobbie Cotton Montgomery (husband Bill) and Dottie Cotton Whittington (husband Doyle); nine grandchildren: Robin Whittington Hebert (husband Mark), Robert Whittington (wife Anna Beth), Ryan Whittington (wife Jennifer), Patty Montgomery Melton, Laurie Montgomery Kleeh (husband Greg), Amy Montgomery Hendricks (husband Jim), Cindy Montgomery Halvorsen (husband Ryan), Mike Montgomery, and David Jacobs. She is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Sunday, February 9, 2014, from 1:00 pm until religious services at 3:00 pm conducted by Rev. Brad Franklin. A private interment will be held Monday at Roselawn Memorial Park.
