
A retired architect and a native of Baton Rouge, he died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Visitation was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at St. James Church on Thursday, Dec. 31, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Raymie is survived by his loving wife, Sarah "Dodie" Edmonds; two sons, Walter Raymond Edmonds III and his wife, Robbie Edmonds, and Louis Todd Edmonds and his fiancée, Liz Sherman; nine grandchildren, Caroline O'Cain and Raymond Edmonds, Burden, Tessie and Kelly Edmonds, Justin, Clayton and Catherine Edmonds and Jeannie Ripple. He also had eight great-grandchildren, Mary Caroline, Attison and Colson O'Cain, Hudson and Landon Ripple, and Genevieve, Aubrey and Avery Edmonds. He was predeceased by his parents, Walter Raymond Edmonds and Katherine Stirling Edmonds; and son, Richard William Edmonds. Pallbearers will be Raymond Edmonds, Burden Edmonds, Justin Edmonds, Clayton Edmonds, Trey O'Cain, Kyle Ripple, Dr. Richard Byrd and Ted Burford. Honorary pallbearers are his Sewanee classmates, Supper Club members, Fred Frey, Dr. Millard Byrd and Ben Kleinpeter. He was a Korean War veteran, St. James Episcopal Church Cherub Choir director and church junior warden, member of the Baton Rouge Round Table, past board member of the Salvation Army, member of the Baton Rouge Country Club and Harlequin Dance Club. We would like to offer our thanks to all of his special caregivers and especially Dr. Kevin Kilpatrick and Cathleen Constentino and Dr. Richard Byrd. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to either St. James Episcopal Church or a favorite charity.
