Warren passed away in Baton Rouge on August 10 after an extraordinarily hard fought battle with brain cancer. He was 65 years old. If you knew him you would know that he lived several lifetimes in one. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on August 28, 1947. He was known as Freddy in his high school days at Baton Rouge High and was a member of the Acadian Club. He graduated from LSU in 1970 with a degree in Sociology. He then worked at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, followed by the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement, the Department of Urban and Community Affairs, and the Division of Administration. After he retired from State government he concentrated on his general contractor and real estate business. Warren was the kind of man who knew the names of every person in Calandro's, had jambalaya for breakfast, had the LSU tiger painted on his front doors by his daughter, and would be the first person to respond when a loved one needed help. He had fierce pride for his Scottish Heritage, loved Thursday nights at Gino's, and was fascinated by dragons and gargoyles. He was also known for his legendary football parties. He was a member of the Krewe of Southdowns, the Krewe of Spanishtown, and the Eagles Club. Preceded in death by his father, Jack G. Gallaspy and his mother, Katheryn R. Gallaspy, Warren is survived by his children, Teri Gallaspy Myers and husband Billy, Jennifer Gallaspy and husband Erik Goulding, Molly Gallaspy, Danielle Paige Gallaspy, Pamela Claire Gallaspy, Warren Wilford Gallaspy, Jr, and grandchildren Joshua Myers and Eleanor Goulding. They will always remember his famous advice "If you don't ask, you don't get" and "You can't fix crazy." Recently asked if he had his life to do over again, Warren said, "I wouldn't change a thing." He celebrated life and was rich in friends. He will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be held in the South Chapel of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. until service. Interment will be private under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home. The family would especially like to thank Nancy Clay and Eric Lowe for their unwavering love, support, and dedication to Warren.
