Warren E. Powell

Warren E. Powell, age 72, passed away on February 19, 2023. Warren was a CPA, retired Auditor for Louisiana's Department of Natural Resources. During his retirement years, he enjoyed working at his community Walmart in Denham Springs, LA. Warren played football for Broadmoor High School in 1966 when the Buccaneers won the Louisiana State Football Championship. Warren also enjoyed playing with his numerous great-grandchildren. Warren is survived by his daughters, Becky Givens of Sanford FL, and Lynette Roberts of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Dove, Amber Nicole Smith, Jonathan Givens, Michael Givens, Zachary Givens; great-grandchildren, Sabrina Dove, James Dove, Andrew Roberts, Jon Michael Smith, Samuel Smith, Cora Givens, Mara Givens, Ezekiel Givens, Malachi Givens; sister, Carla Wainwright Rabai of Hammond, LA. Warren is preceded in death by his wife, Vergie Zeringue Powell of Baton Rouge; parents, Carl Powell and Dorothy Fortenberry Powell of Baton Rouge, LA; brother, Mark V. Powell of Baton Rouge; sister, Jamie Lynn Powell of Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Givens, Zachary Givens; Honorary, Scott Broderick, John Schott, John Rabai. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 from 9:00am - 11:00am with a funeral service to begin at 11:00am at Greenoaks Funeral Home. 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
