

"On Sunday, February 26th, another Angel got his wings. Bill Ashby passed away peacefully in The Carpenter House at the age of 69. Born on November 1st, 1947 in Baton Rouge, Bill spent his young years in New Orleans, then moved to Jackson, MS where he grew up and graduated from MurrahHigh School. Upon graduation, Bill returned to Baton Rouge to attend LSU. He also served in the Air Force National Guard. Bill had a long and very successful, 45 year career, in the Wholesale Liquor Industry, being employed by Bologna of Louisiana. Bill never met a stranger and could light up a room with his beautiful smile. Upon his retirement, Bill loved spending time at his camp in Bayou Sorrel, traveling the bayous, fishing and just sitting on the porch listening to the sounds of nature. Most of all he loved and cherished his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his precious Chi fur babies, Gadget, Pauly, who spent time with him minutes before his passing, and our newly adopted little Iggy. A Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St.at 10:00am on Saturday, March 4th. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow immediately at the Funeral Home. Bill is preceded in death by parents, Bill and Jessie Ashby, paternal and maternal grandparents, and sister-in-law, Mary Anne Kennedy. He is survived by his loving wife, Davie Kennedy Ashby, son, Neal Ashby (Paige), daughter, JenniferKruidenier (Daniel), step children, Christopher Gauthier, Daniel Gauthier (Jennifer), Michelle Fussell,13 beautiful grandchildren, sister, Marie Sims (Freddie), brother Jimmy Ashby, special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynda and Raymond Vince and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Richard Lieux for his many years of loving care and being such a kind and special friend to us. Also, to Dr. Kellie Schmeeckle, St. Josephs Hospice and The Carpenter House for their gentle, loving care given at his end of life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Bill's name to St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge or The Carpenter House of Baton Rouge. Fly high, sweet angel, until we meet again.
