William J (Bill) Aubin, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, La., passed away on July 23, 2021 at his home at the age of 95. Following Army service in post-WW II occupation forces, he graduated from LSU with the intention of becoming a County Agent. After a brief stint as a poultry inspector, he opened Highland Hardware & Garden Center with his partners Pie & Mary Ada Theriot, and wife Elaine. During retirement, Bill devoted time to his garden and orchard, as he loved farming, where he enjoyed sharing the bounty of his labor with neighbors. As a fisherman, he loved catching redfish and speckled trout, not heading back to the boat launch until the last bait was used. A quiet, soft-spoken, and kind man, he was an active member of St Jude Parish and the Knights of Columbus, serving wherever needed. He followed all LSU sports, and loved to see them win. Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elaine Jolissaint Aubin; a daughter Mary Catherine Aubin Lassiter & husband Curt of Little Rock; two sons: Don R Aubin and wife Andrea of Houston, and Lane E Aubin and companion Mary Anne Maher of Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren Sarah Lassiter, Emma Lassiter, Jillian Aubin, Michael Aubin, and Chris Aubin. Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Allie D Aubin Sr and Lillie Leblanc Aubin, five sisters: Dorothy Aucoin, Elfreida Landry, Madge Harelson, Theresa Hemphill, and Hattie Aubin; and six brothers: AD Jr, Paul, Francis, Bartley, Marion, and Vernon Sr. Visitation will held at St Jude Catholic Church from 9 to 10 am Wednesday July 28th, followed by Mass. Burial will be conducted at St George Catholic cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice. The entire family would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to their wonderful caregivers, the staff at Hospice in His Care, and the neighbors, friends, and all who have provided so much support to the family in caring for Bill.
