

William A. Efferson, Jr. Born February 7th, 1951 went to his heavenly home on March 29th, 2017. Better known to friends and family as “Bill”. Bill was a Baton Rouge native and graduate of Baton Rouge High Class of ’69 and received an architecture degree from Louisiana State University in ’74. Bill had a long and successful career as an architect and developer in south Louisiana. His buildings, neighborhoods, hotels, and homes will live on as a reminder of Bill’s great talent for design and construction. Bill lived an amazing and full life, always looking for the next new passion and skill to learn. Over the years, he filled his hours learning to sail, restoring classic cars, enjoying music, singing Frank Sinatra, painting, and even repairing vintage bicycles. He gave of his time and talents throughout the community and served as head usher at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, and he loved to sing Sinatra at area nursing homes. His creative mind and giving spirit had no bounds, while his zest for life and learning was only surpassed by his love and commitment to his family. Bill is survived by Cynthia Denham Efferson, the love of his life, best friend, and wife of 45 years; children, Kerri Efferson Rushing and Ronnie Rushing, of Plano, Texas, Stephanie Efferson Sortino and Anthony Sortino of Denham Springs, LA; his loving mother, Margaret Marino Efferson of Baton Rouge, LA; five grand-children, Justin Rushing, Ashley Rushing, Molly Sortino, Tony Sortino, and Isabel Sortino; siblings, Randall Efferson and his wife Cathy Chambers Efferson, Michael Efferson and his wife Stacy Norwood Efferson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones; he was preceded in death by his father, William A. Efferson, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will be held at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, 412 North St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802 on Saturday, April 1st, 2017, at 9am, followed immediately by 10am Catholic mass celebration. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA.
