Billy "Paw-Paw" Dedon was born June 2, 1930 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and passed away August 12, 2015. He was the former owner/president of the Baton Rouge franchise of Bruce Terminix Pest Control. He was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and long-time member of Istrouma Baptist Church, and a graduate of Istrouma High School. He was a sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps, and a veteran of the Korean War. He was wounded at Hill 749 and was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and E.J. Dedon, Sr., and his brother E.J. Dedon, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Elizabeth Burks Miller Dedon; four children: Jan Miller Dedon Smith, James "Jimmy" Dedon, Thomas "Tommy" Dedon, and Wendy Dedon Craighead; nine grandchildren: Jordan, Michal, Cody, Megan and Christian Dedon, Heather DeSalvo, Margaret Smith, and Ian Bizette; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Istrouma Baptist Church in Baton Rouge with services beginning at noon.
