

Bill Giles was originally from Camden, New York. He was born there on December 25, 1924. He has been a resident of the Lake Sherwood Retirement Home for the last four years. He left earth on his last flight on June 30, 2015 at the age of 90. In February 1943, Bill was inducted into the Army Air Corp, later in 1947, the United States Air Force. He graduated from the Aviation Cadet pilot program and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in September 1944. He served as an instructor pilot upon graduation. Later as a Major, he served as an Aircraft Commander in B047 and B-52 aircraft, in the Strategic Air Command. In 1966 after his retirement from the USAF, he was a pilot for the Union Bank in Little Rock, Arkansas. Following this was a private pilot for a Real Estate building company in Florida. Bill married Georgia P. Fagan on October 27, 1944. Georgia was working at Harlingen Army Airfield in Texas at the time they met. It was love at first sight. They were married for 67 years. Bill is survived by his children, Billy E. Breland and husband, Rodney, Sherry W. Taylor and husband, Terry, Raymond V. Giles; grandchildren, Chrissa Kvist, Cheyenne Cozzalio, Christopher Cozzalio, and Megan C. Taylor; 7 great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Giles. He was preceded him in death by his wife Georgia on January 6, 2012; grandson, Tad Codey Taylor; siblings, Margaret Saul, Katherine Buck, Victor Giles, Raymond Giles; and his parents, J. Brewster and Daisy C. Giles. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 12 p.m. until Funeral Service at 2 p.m. celebrated by Reverends Michael Hardaway and Merlin Liverman. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park.
