Bill grew up in Taylorsville, Mississippi, and graduated from Kosciusko High School. He spent summers working in Idaho with the US Forestry Service. Next he graduated from Ole Miss in 1958, where he was in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, followed by a hitch as an officer in the US Army missile ordnance in West Germany. He got a master's degree in economics and taught economics at Ole Miss, Arizona State, and Georgia Southern. Bill also worked for Bank of America in California, the Federal Reserve in DC, and ran a cable company in Oklahoma.
He enjoyed traveling all over Australia, North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. If he went to Antarctica, he never mentioned it. He retired to Taylorsville and enjoyed long road trips throughout the US, reading, writing, and ballroom dancing from Baton Rouge to Jackson.
Bill was always warm, helpful, and genuine, leaving a huge gap of love and counsel. He was a wonderful storyteller with his nephews and other children in the family and friends.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Mary Norwood Huff and John William Huff of Taylorsville, MS; and his sister, Joann Huff Rayburn of Fort Worth, TX.
He is survived by his sister, Glynda Huff Terry in Arlington, TX; his nephew, Keith Rayburn in Irving, TX; his nephew, Kevin Rayburn, currently teaching in South Korea; his great-nephews, Harry and Will Rayburn; his brother-in-law, Charlie Seely; and many relatives and friends.
