William Samueol Kubricht, Jr.

"William Samuel Kubricht, Jr., "Bill", of Lubbock, TX and Huntland, TN, was born April 13, 1941 in Houston, TX the son of William S. Kubricht Sr. and Charles Mary Taylor Kubricht. At 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, earned his Private First Class rank at completion of boot camp at USMCRD-SD and later served as a Marine Sniper with First Force Reconnaissance Company until 1968. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Houston Baptist College, TX and the Master of Medical Science in Therapeutic Radiological Physics from Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA in 1972. He became a Diplomat in the American Board of Radiology in 1976 and was awarded Fellow in the American College of Radiology in 2013. A long-time member of Rotary International, he was designated a Paul Harris Fellow in 2008. Professional positions included Chief of Clinical Physics, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Baton Rouge, LA, Head, Clinical Physics, Bellaire Cancer Treatment Center, Houston, TX, and Chief, Clinical Physics, Southwest Cancer Treatment & Research Center, University Medical Center, Lubbock, TX. In 2006, Dr. Kubricht pioneered the successful development of the Doctor of Medical Physics degree program in the U.S. to ensure properly credentialed medical physicists were entering the job market. He was a member of the American College of Radiology, the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and is a founding member of M.D. Anderson Associates. He is survived by his wife, Vivien Gore Allen Kubricht of Huntland, TN, his son Dr. William S. Kubricht III and his wife Amy (Baton Rouge, LA), two daughters, Kimberly Kubricht (Los Angeles, CA) and Dawn Kubricht Harkins and husband John (Slidell, LA), and four grandchildren (Hagan Harkins, Trey Harkins, Samantha Harkins, and Faith Kubricht). Arrangements entrusted to Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Winchester, TN. Visitation will be November 16, 6-9 PM at the home in Huntland, with services held November 17 at 10 AM at Trinity Episcopal Church, Winchester, TN. Interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Huntland, TN will follow.
