
Rex was born in Elton in 1915, raised in Church Point and graduated from Church Point High School, Class of 1931. He attended LSU for two years before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. He took basic training at Parris Island, S.C., and was stationed at the Philadelphia Navy Yard until his honorable discharge from the service. In 1940, he joined the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover. He was a special agent and fingerprint specialist in Washington, D.C., and San Antonio. In 1954, Rex became a banker and was in the banking business for more than 30 years. He was very active in the Louisiana Bankers Association and other organizations. He was also in the Knights of Columbus in Washington, D.C., and a member of Our Lady of Sacred Heart Parish in Church Point for more than 50 years. Rex was well known by all the banking customers whom he served. He always had stories to tell about his experiences in life. He knew much about history and geography and would relive his travels so vividly. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Goldie Dejean Langley; and parents, Arsen Langley and Clementine "Douce" Daigle Langley. He is survived by a daughter, Beth Scardina and husband John, of Baton Rouge; son, Terry Langley and wife Donnell, of Mandeville; grandchildren, Kevin Camel and wife Angie, of Lake Charles, Laura Fontenot and husband Kent, of Zachary, Tracie Doucet, of St. Martinville, Kacey and husband Dr. Ryan Arnold U.S.N., of Camp LeJeune, N.C., Jason Langley, of Le Vignaud, France, Katie Langley, of Mandeville, and Misty Purdom and husband Mike, of Denham Springs; and great-grandchildren, Cherié Primes, Jordan and Morgan Kimble, Sam and Sidney Arnold, Tyler Langley, Carey and Chloe Camel, both of Lake Charles, and Kale Purdom, of Denham Springs. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, May 12, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Church Point, on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Entombment in church mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge.
