A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 11:45 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008. She was born in Baton Rouge on March 30, 1925, to William C. and Henri Elsie Hemphill Selser. She grew up during the Great Depression and was married to Ray A. Mumme for 36 years, until his death in 1979. She was later married to Joseph Marion Browning until his death. She is survived by members of both families, including her daughters, Cheryl Mumme Theriot and husband John and Carol Mumme Giaratano and husband P.J; four grandchildren, William Cain Theriot and wife Tiffany, Amy Theriot Leiser and husband Raymond, Rebecca Giaratano Ashford and husband Trey and Marc Giaratano; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters, Elsie Rhea Rodney and Myrna Jolissiant. She will be remembered for her love of animals, especially her last dog, Maddie. Visitation at St. Jude Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, on Wednesday, May 21, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. David Allen, celebrant. Interment at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
