

Winifred "Winky" Tynes Dunn was born on December 14, 1926, in Kentwood, Louisiana to Edwin "Farrar" and Mattie Tynes and was a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Winky passed away at her home on December 9, 2013, at the age of 86. She met her first husband, "Van" Leonard David Vangilder, while working at the Jackson Barracks in New Orleans. They were married in 1957 in New Orleans. Following Van's death in 1965, she met and married her second husband, Wallace Randolph Dunn in 1972. Winky and Wallace were baptized together as Jehovah's Witnesses on their third anniversary, December 21, 1975, in New Orleans. After moving to Baton Rouge they attended Christian meetings at the Highland Oaks Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Winky and Wallace had many exciting adventures while traveling together. Over the years this true jewel touched the lives of many people. Simply put, Winky loved people, and she loved to talk about her past and the future blessings of the new world as promised in the Bible. She also loved her little dog André. Winky was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. She is survived by nieces Catherine St. Martin of Austin, Texas, Teresa White of Murrieta, California, and Deborah Caldwell of Bush, Louisiana; and nephews Richard Cournoyer of Harrington, Delaware, and David Tynes of Roberts, Louisiana; a stepson, Richard Dunn of Livingston, Montana; and a stepdaughter, Angela Hodges of Camden, Arkansas; six grandnieces and nephews and eleven great-grand nieces and nephews. Winky was preceded in death by her first husband Leonard David Vangilder, her second husband Wallace Randolph Dunn, her sister Lynelle Cournoyer, her brother Edwin Tynes, and her parents Edwin and Mattie Tynes. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2562 Toulon Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70816. Funeral arrangements under the directions of Rabenhorst Funeral Home. Winky always contributed to the relief efforts for those suffering from natural disasters or tragic events, and in lieu of flowers, she would want donations to be made to Watchtower, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
