After a long and painful illness, she died Saturday, July 9, 2011. Born in Kidderminister, England, to Gladys and Alf Nixon, she became a U.S. citizen in 1965. She was married for more than 65 wonderful years to Dr. James W. Robinson Sr. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by a son, Dr. James W. Robinson Jr. and wife Christine; daughter, Linda J. Robinson; grandchildren, Angel, James, David and Mark; and six great-grandchildren. To say she will be greatly missed is a gross understatement. She was a dedicated and loving mother, and an active housewife, making the home and garden a delight for everyone. She was a volunteer guide at the downtown Baton Rouge railway museum for many years. An avid football fan, she shared LSU Tigers season tickets since 1956. Socially she had many close friends and was a member of the Cosmopolitan Dance Club for years and an active member of the Krewe of Romany, culminating in becoming ball captain in 1978, hence being a member of Les Capitaine, of which she was a member until she died. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, July 14, from 1 p.m. until funeral at 3 p.m. She will be cremated.
