A resident of Baton Rouge and a native and former resident of New Orleans, she died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor, Baton Rouge. She was 98. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Counce at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, in St. Francis Chapel at Ollie Steele Burden Manor, 4250 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge. Entombment service will follow at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, New Orleans. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Yvette and Lawson Gagnet of New Orleans; three grandchildren and their spouses, Emilie and Greg Leumas of Baton Rouge, Chuck and Grace Gagnet of Luling, and Ronnie and Laurie Gagnet of Baton Rouge; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rousseau Gaines; and her mother and father and five siblings. Pallbearers will be Greg Leumas, Chuck Gagnet, Robbie Leumas, Eric Gagnet, Pierre Gagnet and Richie Leumas.
