Ann was born on February 12, 1924 in Tuckahoe, New York to the late Anthony and Michelina Miele. She was the third of four children, all of whom have predeceased her. Ann was deeply devoted to her family and enjoyed countless hours of joy “around the table.”
Ann married the late Hank Santo in December 1944 and they had three children, Carol, Linda and Michael. While raising her children, Ann worked as a professional seamstress. Ann was a tireless worker, who had many interests including cooking, shopping, crafts, and relentless cleaning, all while constantly training her loving children. A significant part of Ann’s life was giving of herself for the care of others. She evolved into the matriarch of the family and was always available for advice, guidance and often to just listen.
Another very important aspect of Ann’s life was her commitment to Holy Cross High School. She enjoyed all aspects of the Holy Cross community, and developed many deep and lasting friendships. Ann took much joy in being involved in the Holy Cross Women’s Guild, and served as President.
Ann leaves to cherish her loving memory her children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ann was “one of a kind” and will be deeply missed.
Donations in Ann’s memory can be made to St. Francis Hospital.
