Cindy Kunz Thigpen reached her Heavenly home on November 19, 2018, at the age of 68. Cindy, or as her grandchildren called her, Cissy, was born on October 3, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas. She was the firstborn to Ralph and Mildred Kunz, and she was their tiny bundle of joy. Cindy was an avid football fan, an incredible cook, and had a personality that led her to never meet a stranger. She graduated from Ross S. Sterling High School in 1968 and was a proud member of the Ross S. Sterling Stars. One of her favorite memories was sharing the football field during her senior year with her little sister, Patti. She met and fell in love with her husband of 47 years, Harold Thigpen in 1971. They settled in Highlands, Texas, where they have lived for 40 years. They had two beautiful boys, and sports became the focus of their home for many years. In recent years, the grandchildren’s sporting events brought her untold joy. Cindy is survived by her precious parents, Ralph and Mildred Kunz; husband, Harold Thigpen; son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and DeeAnn Thigpen; son, Nathan Thigpen; grandchildren, Tillman Thigpen, Tanner Thigpen, Payton Thigpen, Cullen Thigpen, and Tucker Thigpen. Patti,

I remember how kind and happy you and Cindy were all the time! Both of you brightly shined the halls of Sterling High with your sweet smiles and giggles!

Both William and I are sorry to hear of your loss and wanted to let you and your family know we will be thinking and praying for you as the days go by.

Cindy was a special lady!! I have known her as long as I can remember, and then was very blessed to have taught both Marcus and Nathan. The connection continued. I was unable to attend her service due to family obligations, but my heart and prayers were and are with all of her wonderful family. She will be missed. Lots of hugs and love to the Kunz, Thigpen, and Albright families.

Cindy was one of a kind... God made her special to make everyone feel special. She was always positive and happy to see you, I went on family vacation with the Kunz’s and still have those memories. I then was hired by Citizens Bank and worked with Mr. Kunz. What a great example for everyone there at the bank.
Most of all if it weren’t for Ben Daniels and Cindy I would not have met my husband of 48 years! Thank you Cindy for being my friend.
Love you❤️❤️

You always think you will keep in touch when you move away, but you get busy with your life and regrettably do not. We had the best times together. Ralph, Mildred and Patti were so loving and always welcomed me into their home like I was family. Cindy was one in a million and I have thought about the good times we had together. We would laugh, sing, and dance like crazy. It was hard not to be happy and at your best when you were around her. My deepest sympathy to the family. I have lost my Dad, Mom, and Brother now, but I know they will be in heaven waiting to give her one of their special hugs.

Cindy and I were not just cousins, first cousins, we were the first friends we ever had in life, the first "bff's" we ever had, as a matter of fact. My mother and her father were very close as siblings, too, and that kinship was passed on to us. Life led us on many different paths, but our hearts were always linked by our love for each other and our faith in the Lord. When my health failed, she called and prayed with me. When I lost my Daddy, she prayed with me. And when Mom left us, she prayed for me. She was the rock of her family, always giving them her all. She was so serving and loving. We called each other almost everyday, laughing and talking with each other, sharing the joys of all our grandchildren and families. I will miss her so, but I know that she is joining the other sweet women in the family in Heaven that love her so much and welcome her with loving arms, as does her Savior.

Kunz/Thigpen families,
Words seen so inadequate to express my feelings of this tremendous loss of Cindy. Even though we haven't seen each other in person for some time, we have kept up through text and messenger, as well as facebook, of our families and happenings. We recently talked about us really needing to find time to get together for a girls day trip, because there was so much we needed to catch up on. I have so many fond memories of our high school and college lives together and the love Ralph and Mildred always shared. I'm going to miss her. I will forever keep you all in my prayers, thoughts and heart.

Love,
Judy Lannou Thiele
