Agnes Bernice Twardowski, 85, of Highlands, Texas was called home to the Lord on Friday, March 30, 2012. Agnes was born December, 11, 1926, in St. Hedwig, Texas to Teofil and Anastasia Ploch. She was the youngest of three daughters. Agnes moved to Highlands after marrying Willie John Twardowski. She worked as a salesperson for Beall’s Department Store in Baytown. She had the ability to start a conversation with anyone and find something to discuss with them. She was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Highlands, Texas where she was a Charter Member of the St. Jude’s Chapter of the Catholic Daughters of America. Agnes served her church by visiting the sick, organizing meals for families in need, and volunteering as needed. Her strong faith in God allowed her to always find the good in any difficult situation life had to offer. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie John Twardowski, and her son, Robert Anthony Twardowski.
She is survived by her son, Leonard, and wife, Linda, of Baytown, TX; daughter, Mary Yates and husband, COL (R) Don Yates, of Carlisle, PA; son Danny and wife, Linda, of Hockley, TX; and son, Jimmy, and wife, Janet, of Clear Lake, TX. Grandchildren and spouses: Eric and Rachel Twardowski, Kristen and Neal Carlson, Mike and Mandy Wiggins, 1st Lt. John Yates (USAF) and Kelly, Todd and Amy Twardowski, Traci Twardowski, Tyler Twardowski, Matthew Twardowski, Lauren Twardowski, Taylor Twardowski, five great grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Ms. Gloria Noel for all the love and care she provided to Agnes over the last several years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 2, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home. Rosary at 7:30 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Highlands, TX on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, TX.
