Amy Katherine McAdams of Baytown, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at the age of 94. She was born on October 31, 1927, in Bayou Chene, Louisiana, to Charles and Hattie Ashley. She was a devoted and loving wife for 61 years to her late husband, Joe L. McAdams, Sr.
In addition, Amy was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Reading her Bible and memorizing scripture was of utmost importance. She was a member of Old River Baptist church for twenty-eight years and treasured her church family. After retirement from Community Resource Credit Union, she spent her time living life to its fullest. She was not one to just sit at home. She enjoyed sewing and was a Mary Kay Consultant. A stroke in 2011 sidelined Amy for a while, but she didn’t allow that to shut her down. Through the support of family and friends, Amy carried on her life for many more years. Although her body was feeble, her mind was sharp. This past year, Amy moved to Waterford, an assisted living facility, which became her final home here on earth.
Two things she never lost were her spunk in life and her love for God. Amy never gave up and longed for the day she could make that final journey to see her loved ones and friends who had preceded her to heaven. Although we will miss her and mourn her, we celebrate Amy who now has a brand-new body, free from any defects, as she resides for all eternity in Paradise with Jesus.
Amy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son Joey McAdams; a daughter Janelle Boudreaux; sister Mildred Landry and her husband Wallace; brother Harold “Scoby” Ashley and wife Cecile; brother Agricole Ashley and wife Helen; and brother-in-law Buddy McBride.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Lillian McBride, Vincent Ashley and wife Dena, Joyce Pace and husband Milton, Carol Sue Quinn and husband Ed. She is also survived by her grandchildren: David Boudreaux, Carlie Clayton, Lori McAdams, Cory McAdams and his wife Whitney. Great grandchildren include Shelby Boudreaux, Gavin and Cullen Clayton, Avery and Anden McAdams, and great-great granddaughter Brexley Tilton. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Toni Kinney.
Pallbearers are Cory McAdams, David Boudreaux, Gavin Clayton, Cullen Clayton, Chadd Melancon, and Vincent Ashley.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be held at Old River Baptist Church on Thursday, January 27, 2022, with Rev. Ronnie Webb officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. at Houston National Cemetery.
