Ashton Vincent “Shorty” Parris, 77, of Baytown, Texas, passed away with his loving family by his side, on Monday, August 11, 2025. He was born in St. Georges, Grenada, on February 20, 1948, to the late Phyllis Parris Campbell.
Shorty pursued many interests, some of which included being outdoors, working in the yard, traveling or listening to music. He loved spending time in his garden where he grew a various array of vegetables and plants. Shorty had a creative side to him when it came to landscaping, easily designing anything he envisioned.
He had a true servant’s heart, working in the community as a handy man in his spare time. Friends and neighbors would come to him with favors, and he couldn’t say no, springing in action no matter the need. Shorty had an open-door policy at his home, he welcomed others to come in for a meal or a place to sleep if they needed one. He was a father figure to many and an inspiration to everyone who knew him. Shorty also enjoyed the simple things in life like just sitting out on the porch with his wife. Above all, his greatest joy came from being with his family, having a house full of love and laughter.
Shorty was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis; his sisters Bernadine Parris, Prim Campbell, and Jennifer Campbell. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his beloved wife Carmen Parris; his children Preth Parris Wagner and husband Ronald, and Ashley Parris and wife Bonnie; his grandchildren Jasmine Parris and fiance Ifield Ellidge, Jr, Jaylon Parris, Deloney Isaac, and Damien Gadsden; his great-grandchildren Jayda Parris, Jayden Wesley, Julian Wesley, Princess Ellidge Wiley Coleman ; his siblings Jeffrey Parris Campbell, Milton Campbell and wife Sharon, Kenny Campbell and wife Rhonda, Joan Parris; his numerous nieces and nephews; his Godson Fredrick St. Luce; his closest friends Peter St. Luce, Junior Francis, Leon Thomas, Emrick Pancho, Jennifer Gordon, Danny Isaac, Anthony Charles, and Short Joe; along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
