Beatrice V. Contreras

Beatrice, also known as “Bea”, moved from San Antonio to Baytown in 1945, and met her loving husband in 1947, who she married on June 24, 1949. She worked for GCCISD for 20 years as a custodian at Kilgore Elementary School and Baytown Junior High School. Beatrice was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and member of Guadalupanas for about 55 years, and a member of Sagrado Corazon for 33 years. She enjoyed getting her hair and make-up done at Focus 2000 weekly, spending time with her family, eating out, sneaking sweets, and dancing. She had a permanent smile and never met a stranger.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Elvira Villarreal; 12 brothers and sisters, including Frederico, Juan, Arturo, Roberto, Raul, Andrea, Carolina, Celia, and Lidia; one daughter, Angelina Rios; one granddaughter, Katherine Rios Young; and one great-grandson, Seth John Young.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jose Angel “Champ” Contreras; two sons, Edward and Joey Contreras; one daughter, Terry Olivarez, and husband Martin, and one son in law, Rafael Rios Jr., all of Baytown. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, including Kathy Rios Young, Rodney Rios, Jerry Rios, Candice Rios Chapa, and husband Leo, Beverly Gill, and husband, Matt, Aaron Delgado, and wife, Lissette, Cristen Delgado, Alisha Rodriguez, and husband Ricky, Christina Contreras, Catherine Contreras Jones, and husband Robby; 16 great-grandchildren, Josh Young, Zachary Young, Seth Young, Marcus Chapa, Julian Chapa, Layla Chapa, Lindsey Reyes, Kimberly Villareal, Kaden Delgado, Bryce Delgado, Taylor Salazar, Kassandra Contreras Worley, and husband Derek, Ricky Rodriguez Jr., Nikolas Rodriguez, Sofia Rodriguez, and Presley Jones; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Cheyanne Young and Asher Worley.

Honoring Beatrice as pallbearers are Taylor Salazar, Zachary Young, Rodney Rios, Aaron Delgado, Ronnie Bravo, Michael Villarreal, Ricky Salinas, and Rey DelValle. Honorary pallbearers are Nikolas Rodriguez, Matt Gill, Leo Chapa, Jerry Rios, Derek Worley, Kaden Delgado, James Pender, Ricky Rodriguez, Robby Jones, and Lawrence Lowe.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Faith Community Hospice and Visiting Angels, including Kim Waller, Treva Davis, Felicia Goode, and Jane Watson, for the compassionate care they provided at the end of Beatrice’s journey.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with a rosary beginning at 7:00 pm at Earthman Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1124 Beech St., Baytown, TX 77520. Interment will follow at Sterling White Cemetery in Highlands, TX.
