

Betty Jane Young Camp, 87, went peacefully to sleep for the last time on December 21, 2012. Betty was born in Lake Charles, LA on October 7, 1925. Her family relocated to Baytown, TX in 1926. She considered herself a lifelong resident. She was an active member of the community and her church, Memorial Baptist Church, where she was baptized and married and was an active member of the church for almost 80 years. She was a loving, generous wife, mother, mother-in-law, step-grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend.
She attended Lee College while working as a secretary at Humble Oil and Refining Company. She met the love her life, William B. ""Bill"" Camp while both were working at HORC. They married in 1945 and spent 38 happy years doing almost everything together, until his death in 1983. Betty was one of the founding members of the original Bay Coast Hospital Volunteer Corps (1972-2005), amassing over 30, 000 volunteer hours. She was a past president and ran the hospital gift shop until it was closed in 2002.
She was founding member and patron of Friends of Lee College and member of Exxon Annuitants, and a generous contributor to the original Baytown Historical Museum.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ludie Young; father, William ""Brigham"" Young; and husband, Bill Camp. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Renée Camp Mostyn and husband, Jon; grandson, Jon and his son and daughter, Jack and Mollie and grandson Christopher and wife, Jennifer and their triplets, Tucker, Bryndal, and Brody. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Her family would like to extend special thanks and love to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Hacienda Oaks Assisted Living facility in Seguin, Dr. Anthony Flores, and especially the loving attention and care given to her in her final weeks – the staff of Odyssey Hospice.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Saturday, January 5, 2012 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Randy Piatt officiating. A private burial will follow at White Cemetery.
