

Billy Gene Ramsey, 86, of Baytown was born October 31, 1925 in Carbon, TX and passed away peacefully at home Friday, January 13, 2012. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Force. While employed with Gulf Oil Corporation/Chevron his assignments included Port Arthur, Iran, Orange and retired from Cedar Bayou Olefins Plant in 1983. Bill was a 50 year member of the Groves Masonic Lodge #1315. He was a life long member of the Baptist Faith but attended St. Marks Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, deer hunting, fishing, and building computers for his kids and grandkids. After retirement Bill enjoyed serving as an Alderman while living in Beach City. One of his many successes was the restoration of a 1930's house on Trinity Bay where his family and friends enjoyed many gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Ezekiel Ramsey and Lella Lee Shannon, brothers, Edward Shannon Ramsey and Benjamin Lynn Ramsey. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda Land Ramsey; sons and daughters-in-law, Layne and Beverly Ramsey and Blake and Peggy Ramsey; grandchildren, Rachel and husband Randall Cooper, Russell and wife Brittany Ramsey; great grandchild, Tyler Cooper and Bill was looking forward to his second great-grandchild to arrive in June; sister-in-laws, Monte Land G'Sell and Mary Land Schreiber and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to acknowledge the special care given to Bill for the last year by Genevieve LaBarrie and Allicia Andrew.
