The Sorensons were wonderful neighbors to my grandparents on Long Meadow for many years. I always looked forward to seeing Bobby and hearing about his projects. When we both worked for GCCISD, I tried to make a point to visit with him if possible too. My thoughts & Prayers are with his family.

Bobby was my “Little Brother” in the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity although he was a couple of years older. It must be noted that for a smooth running track star, he was the worst yet most enthusiastic dancer at our parties. We had more fun than should be allowed in college and stayed it touch through life. Bobby married a beautiful and gracious lady. He and Bea built a great family. Bobby was always ready to help whenever needed and always approached life with a positive attitude. He was a good man by
all standards. Phi Phi Ka little bro.

Mr. Sorenson was my 7th grade science teacher at Baytown Jr High. 2004. He sent me outside to the hall so many times 😂 but this man was my favorite teacher not only in jr high but in all my years of school. He was sooooo patient with all his students. I remember him and Mr Wallace (may he RIP as well) standing in the hallway after every class period waiting on everyone to get in and after school waiting on the bus to load. This truly hurts. He will be forever missed 💔

Working with Bobby at Baytown Junior School for several years was entertaining and calming. He told interesting/hilarious stories, was practical in dealing with students, and was a dedicated family man. We would sometimes get tickled by the fact he never really caught onto technology basics: how to turn on a computer; how to get to emails, respond, and send them; and how to get to the grade sheet program to input grades-no matter how many tutorials we gave him. He was endearing, so this was not a real problem for any of us. He was extremely frugal and was an expert at educating fellow teachers in how to plan for retirement from TRS. I still tell some of the funny things he did to my friends and family. He lives on in our hearts and in our memories. We are blessed to have known him.
You are all in our prayers.

Rob,
I just learned of your dad's passing. I am so sorry. He was an awesome guy. Did I ever tell you that he tutored me in math after he had recently moved to Baytown while I attended Lee College ? We remained family friends since then, and I always enjoyed it when we happened to run into one another so that we could catch up on everyone.
I will be checking the web site to see when his funeral will be. I definitely want to attend.
Love from my family and me.

Bobby was a great neighbor and friend for over thirty years. He took care of things when I was gone off backpacking and when Ike hit and tore my roof off while I was gone he got things cleaned up.
He left behind a wonderful family. Rest in peace my friend!

RIP Coach Sorenson. You received your wings, you are now flying around Heaven with all of Gods Angels. You were one of my favorite Teachers 9th grade year, at Lee High School, I often wondered if you waited for 2nd period to get your coffee. You would send me everyday to the Teachers Lounge, to get you a cup of coffee. Other students wanted to go, but you always sent me. I will never forget you telling me, ‘KARYN you know just how much coffee to put in this cup’, you had the biggest coffee cup ever lol .. I always filled your coffee cup up 3/4 full, and you would always say ‘KARYN you see the imaginary coffee line in my cup 😂 😊. Coach you will bd missed . RIP Coach, ..... RIP.. My prayers go out to Sorenson Family.

Bobby and Bea were witnesses to our wedding in Galveston, almost 50 years ago, and friends ever since. Bobby had a huge heart, a bigger smile, and a delightful sense of humor, and had such a wonderful impact on students, friends, family -- everyone he met. Our hearts go out to each of you, and we wish the family strength and peace in knowing how very much Bobby was loved and appreciated. ~ Jerry and Irene Waggoner, and family

Bobby was a true friend who would do anything for anyone. Always had a joke and story to share.
Taught my kids in junior high and everywhere and every time Bobby and I were out together his past students would always come up to him and say hello. Most of them would comment “You were our best and favorite teacher” 20 years after being his student. I can hardly remember any of my teachers but he left an impression on hundreds of future Baytown adults.
From Gillian and I, our heartfelt condolences to the Sorenson family. I am going to miss my buddy.

It was my privilege to work with Bobby for many years at Baytown Junior. He had great patience with students, an easygoing nature, and I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. I always enjoyed his stories about growing up in Taylor, teaching at Horace Mann, and driving the "big yellow taxi." I know he will be missed by many, including me.

Bobby was my long-time colleague at Baytown Jr . We shared a hall, lots of laughs and sometimes our frustrations. He was always upbeat and fun to work with.

Bobby Sorenson did his part to leave this world better than he found it. He dedicated most of his life to thousands of youth in GCCISD, teaching and encouraging them to do their best. He never had to demand respect...he earned it caring for students one at a time. He may have been a teacher of science, coach, sex Ed teacher. Gun safety instructor and bus driver, but what he taught me in the early 70’s was the value of self respect, good character and respecting those around you. Bobby Sorenson taught life lessons even if he had to tell you “40-11 times”! He was a man who gave encouragement and counsel, sometimes with a sting, but I am sure we all deserved it. He made it a point to know parents and Communicate with them as well. I was fortunate enough to keep in touch with him after all these years and it is a privilege to have known him.
