

Carmen P. Contreras, 76, of Highlands, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 18, 2007. She was born September 16, 1930 in Baytown. She was a day care professional for over 30 years throughout Baytown. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She played the marimba in an all girl band, The Tipica Orchestra.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cipriano and Juventina Piña; brother, Gilbert Piña; uncles, Antonio Martinez, Gilbert Martinez, Julio Martinez, Geronimo Martinez, and Joe Martinez.
She is survived by her husband, Miguel Contreras Jr.; children, Tina Hill and husband Tom, Debra Rodriguez; grandchildren, Ricky Rodriguez Jr., Michael Rodriguez, Tiffany Rodriguez, Malissa Rodriguez, Taylor Hill; aunts, Annie Aguilar, and Mary Garcia; and uncle, Robert Martinez.
Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for Monday 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Jesus Garcia. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Tom Hill, Michael Rodriguez, Ricky Rodriguez Jr., Robert Martinez Jr. Chris Aguilar, and Conrad Garcia. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Sgt. 1st Class Richard Pallanez Jr.
