

Carol Scott, 59, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, August 29, 2018, in La Porte, TX, after a celebration of her 22 years of service at the La Porte Police Department. Carol was entering retirement surrounded by family, friends and beloved coworkers who honored her on this day. Carol grew up in Kansas City, MO and moved to Texas in 1983. She was truly a woman of God, always putting others’ needs before her own. She attended Old River Baptist Church in Dayton, where she lived and raised her 2 children for over 30 years.
Carol is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Chris Gottus and son, Patrick “P. J.” Scott, Jr., all of Mont Belvieu; her 2 beloved grandchildren, Ethan and Elijah Gottus; twin sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl Scott McClanahan and husband Dan of Sealy; brother and sister-in-law, Bryant and Mandi Scott of Kansas City, MO; nieces, Tricia Theriot and Breanna McClanahan; and nephews, Justin McClanahan and Thoren Scott.
Her family will receive friends at Old River Baptist Church, 12948 FM 1409, Dayton, TX 77535, on Monday, September 3, 2018, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Danny Biddy, Rev. Ronnie Webb, and Rev. Wes Hinote officiating.
Having devoted her service to the La Porte Police Department as a dispatcher and then becoming the first Victim's Advocate for the City of La Porte, she will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She truly was an inspiration and lived out her life for Jesus.
