Charles Stephen Travers

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles Stephen Travers. Steve passed peacefully in his sleep on July 4th, 2026 in Seabrook, Texas at the age of 61. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled. With his passing, we remember a life filled with immense love and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him. The warm memories and family love he represents will echo deeply among us forever.

Stephen loved all things Irish and even spent some time working as a commercial fisherman in Ireland before embarking on a career in finance, some of his favorite passtimes included spending time at the beach, watching documentaries on YouTube, Godzilla, eating a juicy hamburger, AC/DC and having a big bowl of chocolate ice cream. Most of all, he loved his family and delighted making sure we were all safe and happy, especially his grandson Teddy. He was never happier than when he was spending time with Teddy on an “adventure”

He was an avid gardener. His backyard was a sanctuary of blossoms, bees, butterflies, and birds. Just as carefully as he nurtured his garden, he nurtured his family and friends with the love and patience he gave so freely.

Stephen was intelligent, charming, generous, funny, and always prepared with a witty bon mot. He was a man of boundless energy and determination and instilled with an innate sense of curiosity. We were so lucky to have him, yet so unlucky to lose him this soon.

Stephen was born in Rockville Centre, New York He is preceded in death by his father James Travers, whom Stephen missed terribly. We take comfort in knowing they are together again.

He leaves behind to mourn him his wife Cathy, daughter Meghan, his beloved grandson Teddy as well as his mother Mary Joan Garity Travers, brother Jay Travers (Cathy) and sisters Meegan Toomey (Karl), Eileen Woltz (Lloyd) and Julia Travers, nephews Liam Toomey (Alisha) and their son Evan, Christopher Toomey, Kevin Travers, Jimmy Travers special friends Mo, Ronnie, Linda, Pat, Jim, Monica and Kipp, and a host of Aunts, Uncles and cousins who will miss him deeply.

A Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held in late September. Details to follow.
