Charlotte Ann Taylor passed away Monday, September 22, at the age of 73. Ann was born March 3, 1941, in Baytown, Texas, to Kenneth Richard ""K.R."" and Charlotte Mathilde Kay Taylor. She grew up in Baytown, where she attended Cedar Bayou Schools and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1959.
Ann was a fun-loving, gregarious person who loved being with people. She had a knack for making people laugh, acting silly, and turning any situation into something fun and enjoyable. Whether it was hosting bridge parties in younger days or dancing with the kitchen staff in the nursing home later in life, Ann never missed an opportunity to live life to the fullest.
Throughout her life, Ann had a passion for music. Wherever Mom was, music was playing. She was a teenager in the 50s but didn't care much for Elvis. Instead, she listened to Little Richard, Ray Charles, and Roy Orbison and shared those songs with her babies. She loved listening and dancing to Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66, Herb Alpert, Ramsey Lewis, Neil Diamond, anything Motown, Chicago, the Doobie Brothers, Michael Jackson, and Alicia Keyes just to name a few. Her music choices were always eclectic and a bit unorthodox for someone her age, but that's what made her such a unique and unforgettable person. She, in turn, passed the love of music on to her children, for whom the songs forever will evoke priceless, wonderful memories.
Her greatest passion in life, however, was loving her four children Julie, Charlotte, John, and Kay. She always said that having them was her biggest accomplishment, and she didn't hesitate to share that with everyone she met. They were going to hear about her kids, whether they wanted to or not.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her daughter Julie Heffner and husband Tony, daughter Charlotte Golding and husband Rob, son John Pitts, and special friend Jenny Shen, and daughter Kay Thessnow and husband Roger. Surviving grandchildren include Mark Heffner, Jill Heffner Laird and husband Chad, Caroline Golding Dickens and husband Bryce, Catherine Golding, Caitlin Simonson, and Kameron Simonson. Ann is also survived by her two great-grandsons Luke and Will Laird and her brother John R. Taylor and wife Linda.
She also leaves her friends and table mates Pearl, Marie, and Billie at Cedar Bayou.
A visitation and celebration of the life of Charlotte Ann Taylor will be Thursday, September 25, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. A private memorial service for family will be held on Friday. On Saturday, Ann's four children will take her ashes to the beach in Galveston to honor and celebrate the life of their mother.
In gratitude and appreciation, a special thank you is extended to Craig Cannon and the entire staff at Cedar Bayou Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Baytown.
