A beautiful, bouncy baby boy was born to Flavien Compton and Alix Cadette on January 30, 1976 in Saint Croix USVI. At the tender age of 4, he started his education at Martha School in Boston. In 1994, he graduated from Lee High School in Baytown, Texas. Later Cherub graduated, class of 1997 from Lee College with a degree in Electrical Technology. He served courageously in the U.S Army from 2001 – 2003 where he studied at the U.S Army School of Engineers. Most recently he worked as an Instrument and Electrical Tech. for Energy Transfer. In 2003, he met Cleta and they fell in love. The years following brought immense happiness to Cherub.
Cherub is survived by his wife Cleta Cadette, parents Flavien Compton and Alix Cadette, brothers Chuck and Oyakie Cadette and his sister Flavia Cadette-Nelson.
He was fun to be around and loved to make people laugh with his goofy faces. He always had a passion for the ocean and took great pleasure in fishing in the Gulf Coast, but to this day has never caught a fish. He enjoyed basketball, playing his trumpet, listening to music, hanging out with his siblings, eating Caribbean food which his devoted wife often prepared and further introduced him to, especially on their vacation trips to St. Lucia. Playing with Fluffy was one of his frequent hobbies.
Army training made Cherub disciplined and organized. He was a hardworking and giving man who took pride in everything he had and did. He always encouraged us to be involved in life – he brought out the adventurous side in us all. He was Cleta’s soul mate and inspiration – her steadfast rock that helped her through thick and thin. He was talented and blessed with his hands. Cherub supported and loved us all, and was always there to help navigate through life’s challenges.
Cherub Cadette went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2017 at the age of 41. Even though he is not with us now, we could all picture his big smile he left behind. He will be greatly and deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
The wake will be from 2pm - 4pm at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown, 3919 Garth Rd, on March 4th. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on March 05, 2017 at the Baytown United S.D.A Church, 401 West Nazro St.
