

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Edward and Vira Rebecca Jackson, brothers Ira, Roland, Charles, and Allen Jackson and sisters Mildred Scott, Lela Wright, Ruby Havard, and Agnes Tiner.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Leonard E. Welch, sons Mike Welch of Arizona, Mark Welch and wife Debo of Rusk and daughter Debra Harlien and husband Dane of Crosby.
She was known as Grandmomma to her grandchildren, Brent Harlien and wife Tamara, Julie McClure and husband Joel, Stacy MCown and husband Greg, Brad Welch and wife Brittany, Terri Howard and husband Adam, Kelli Andrus and husband Josh. Also, 14 great-grandchildren, Audrey, Paisley and Brady Harlien, Cole and Morgan McClure, Jayden Welch and McKenzie Welch, Tristen, Dyess, Emory and Ellee Welch and Gracie, Addison and Blake McCown, brother-in-laws Mickey Welch and wife Linda and Kenneth Welch and wife Sarah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
Clarice moved to Highlands, Texas in 1935. She married her high school sweetheart in 1949 and together they raised their three children. She was a devoted mother always participating in her children’s activities and a faithful and loving wife. She was a member of Highlands First Baptist Church where she served the Lord faithfully. In 1974, she and her husband moved to Rusk, Texas where they were members of Eastside Baptist Church for 40 years.
In Rusk, they owned and operated a Building Supply and Hardware Store, an antique shop and later went into the turf grass business before retiring. One of her favorite hobbies was oil painting, so she opened an art supply store where she taught art lessons to all ages for 7 years before retiring. She was never afraid to tackle a new challenge.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Rusk and enjoyed serving the community with her sorority sisters. She enjoyed quilting in her younger years and cooking was a favorite past time. In 2018, she and her husband moved back to Crosby to be close to family. She spent many days sitting on the porch rocking and watching her great grandchildren play, commenting on what a blessed life she has had. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services have been entrusted to Earthman Baytown Funeral Home. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 9:30am to 10:00 am at First Baptist Church Crosby 615 Runneburg Rd, Crosby, TX. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at First Baptist Church Crosby and will be officiated by Pastor Joshua Seale. Committal Service will follow at Sterling White Cemetery, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Rd, Highlands, TX
