

Clemente Cantu Jr. 85, of Baytown, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 19, 2018. He was born on April 30, 1932 in Baytown, Texas. He was a member of La Nueva Betel de Baytown Iglesia Bautista in Baytown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemente and Bertha Cantu; brothers, Richard, Bernie, and Ernest Cantu; sisters, Ernestina Torres, Mary Helen Salinas and beloved wife Zulema Garza Cantu.
Mr. Cantu is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Rudy (Margaret) Cantu of San Antonio, Ernest (Kim) Cantu of Atascocita; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana Lynn (Salvador) Tamez of Baytown, Carla Marisa (Eloy) Garcia of Houston, and daughter, Laura Cantu of Baytown; grandchildren, James and Gabby Tamez, Janiece Cantu, Rudymichael Cantu, Justin and Emily Cantu, Courtney and Curtis Wyche, Cheyenne Haynes, Ryan Garcia and Brissa Garcia; great-granddaughter, Abigail Lynn Tamez; sisters, Selma Wagner, Corina Melendez, and Mary Lou Olivo; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Clemente was drafted into the armed forces in 1954 and served for two years. He worked for several years as a merchant marine and truck driver before being hired as a painter at Deer Park ISD. He retired after 28 years of service from Deer Park ISD where he was known as “Baytown”. Clemente enjoyed watching football and the time he spent with his family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Earthman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25th, 2018 at 10:00 am at Earthman Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Baytown, TX.
