Corine Strown Miller

Corine Strown Miller, 86, of Baytown was born February 10, 1926 in Batson, TX and passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in a local assisted living facility. She was a graduate and valedictorian of her class at Batson High School and a graduate of the University of Houston. She retired from the Goose Creek School District with 30 years of service as a teacher at Lamar Elementary. She was a member of Baptist Temple and was an avid bowler with the Baytown bowling leagues.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elija and Annie King and husbands, John G. Strown, Jr. and Joseph R. Miller. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John M. and Mary Strown of Baytown; daughters and son-in-law, Elaine and Rick Hollingshead of Baytown and Kathleen King of Cypress; half sister, Ethyl Muir of Batson; grandchildren, Mark Clausen of Cypress, Alicia Fernandez of Spring and Leslie Hollingshead, Tracy Strown, Johnna Strown, and Holly Hollingshead, all of Baytown; and great grandson, Antonio Fernandez.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, August 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.
