Ted was born October 18, 1939, in Livingston, Tennessee, to Willie Horace Weems and Nell Elizabeth Ogletree Weems, and he held a lifelong love for that place and for his people there. After moving to Texas, he graduated from LaPorte High School and, afterward, enlisted in the Army.
After his military service, he worked as an electrician for many years in various capacities and then transitioned into the agricultural industry until his retirement. He also kept busy with real estate, stock market investing, and many other projects he enjoyed.
Early on in his life, he became a Christian with a tremendous respect for God and the sacrifice of Christ through which he was saved. As such, he was quick to help others when the need arose and was quick to smile and befriend many who came his way.
Second only to his love for God was his love for his wife, Martha, to whom he was married for 62 years. Together, they raised a daughter and son, who later provided them five grandchildren who were an immense joy to them both. Ted had a brilliant mind which he frequently used to engineer entertaining activities and lifelong memories for his grandchildren.
